Grand Tour of the North Day 9 (blog 3) Argyll's Lodging

As one of Scotland's principal royal residences Argyll's Lodging is the most complete 17th century aristocratic townhouse in Scotland. Building
 began in the mid 1500's but not completed until the 1670's
It has been re-created to provide an insight into the luxurious world of Archbishop Campbell,  9th Earl of Argyll & his Countess  Ann Mackenzie of Balcarres.
It was also known as The Laigh Hall. From 1964- 1996 it was a Youth Hostel & was purchased by Historic Scotland.
