Grand Tour of the North Day 3

The riverside walk is accessed through a splendid little Park just a stones throw from Berwick railway station. Steps take you down firstly to the formal gardens which is full of beautiful flowers & a pond on the first level. Then a path takes you down towards the river Tweed.
The riverside path is suitable for all being constructed of tarmac can also be accessed from the old bridge .
Three bridges span the river, the railway & two road. The original stone bridge is restricted to local traffic.
Riverside walk takes in the old castle ruins where you can admire the  spectacular railway viaduct built by Stephenson & there's a splendid view of the river.
Continuing the walk you need to go through a narrow arch. The riverside walk is just over a mile long & you never lose sight of the bridges.
The walk ends when you reach the holiday cottage & theres a bench where you can sit & enjoy the views.
